Stress and Anxiety

Stress is our bodies adaptive response to an event, a situation, pressure, or a danger, real or imaginary. It is often triggered when we experience something new, unexpected or that threatens our sense of self, or when we feel we have little control over a situation.
Anxiety is excessive, uncontrollable, and often irrational anticipation of future threats. Feeling anxious in certain situations can help us avoid danger, triggering our 'fight or flight' response. It is how we’ve evolved to keep ourselves safe. Sometimes though, we can become overly worried about perceived threats – bad things that may or may not happen. In a nutshell Anxiety is the fear of the future.
When you feel threatened, a chemical reaction occurs in your body that allows you to act in a way to prevent injury.
This reaction is known as "fight-or-flight,” or the stress response.
Our bodies are not designed to be in this fight-or-flight state for long periods of time promoting Cortisol which then raises your blood sugar which then effects the raising of inflammation in your body. The more Cortisol you have the more inflammation you have, the more inflammation you have the more cortisol you have, and it becomes a vicious cycle.
This is where disease or chronic illness starts.
